Become our next Head of Policy: lead our Criminal Justice work

Action for Race Equality (ARE) is now recruiting an experienced and passionate Head of Policy to lead on our criminal justice work.

ARE works collaboratively to improve outcomes for Black, Asian and minority ethnic and Muslim communities in the criminal justice system. Expert members of our National Independent Advisory Group (EQUAL) support this work.

There is now an opening for a Head of Policy (Criminal Justice System)

We are looking for a talented individual with experience of policy development and supporting public policy campaigns to help to end race inequalities in the criminal justice system.

This is an excellent opportunity to work at the national level for a valued charity with effective links to government, criminal justice system agencies and the Black and Asian civil society sector.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in race equality, interested in affecting change in policing, the youth justice system and prison and probation service.

Background to the role

ARE believes that equal treatment under the law is a fundamental aspect of the criminal justice system that is consistently denied to young people who are Black, Asian or of Mixed Heritage. In recent years much of our work in this area has been through the EQUAL programme which has been running since 2014.

£38,250 pro rata
