Zahid Hussain studied business and IT, before undertaking a postgraduate diploma in European management.
He is a member of the Faith Network for Manchester and the Greater Manchester Forum of Faith and Community Leaders, chair of Manchester Community League, the city’s first football league dedicated to ethnic communities and a member of Ansar Finance, a finance initiative that provides loans and mortgages based on Sharia basis to Muslims and others
In 2007, he wrote an essay entitled “Islamic Contours of a Political Economy” published in “Through the Eye of a Needle: Theological Conversations Over Political Economy”.
Zahid is also a novelist and performance poet: he is a former champion of the North West Poetry Slam and has performed at venues such as Manchester’s Green Room and Contact Theatre. His debut novel, “The Curry Mile”, was released in late 2006 to wide acclaim.
